Ongoing commitment to sustainability and the environment is a key part of our ethos.
As a professional benchmark, the LIRECO (Low Impact Rated – Eco-Friendly) standard was established to help users to make environmentally sustainable purchasing decisions.
To bear the LIRECO accreditation logo, all professional cleaning chemical products must meet the eight of the following non-mandatory scoring criteria:
Produced in factories where waste effluent is reduced to carbon dioxide and water
Not tested on animals
Fully biodegradable
Part of a system that reduces product consumption
Made with raw materials from renewable sources
Manufactured at an IPPC licenced plant
Meets requirements of the Detergents Directive for biodegradability
Packaging material from recycled sources
CleanSource® Professional is the primary brand of cleaning products sold by Caterclean Supplies ‘Caterclean.com’ to customers throughout the UK and Ireland.
CleanSource® Professional products are manufactured to an extremely high quality standard and below is the charter that is set out in our environmental policy.
Raw Materials
Careful consideration is taken when selecting raw materials. Commercial factors, such as cost and performance, are balanced against any possible effects on the environment.
Biodegradability
Surfactants and detergents (tensides) used in all CleanSource® branded products comply with the very strict European legislation on biodegradability (Regulation EC No. 648/2004). This legislation covers the primary biodegradability and final biodegradation of products.
NPEs
CleanSource® Products does not purchase or use Nonylphenolethoxylates (NPEs). NPEs, although biodegradable, have suspect breakdown products and are thus banned from use in the EU (but not other areas of the world).
V.O.C. (Volatile Organic Compounds)
CleanSource® Products research and implement alternatives to the use of Volatile Organic Compounds in their products. Volatile Organic Compounds are harmful to the environment as they do not have a simple biodegradation route and can build up in the air.
Formaldehyde and Chlorinated Solvents
CleanSource® Products does not use these harmful products or any raw materials containing them.
NTA
All the products manufactured for and by CleanSource® Products are free from Nitrilotriacetate (NTA).
Packaging Waste
CleanSource® Products is committed to reducing packaging waste. Our plastic bottles are made from recycled plastics and all outer packaging is made from fully recycled cardboard.
Energy Footprint
We also work hard to reduce the overall energy consumption (carbon footprint) that is involved in a product’s life cycle, i.e. the energy consumed in its manufacture, packaging, transportation and eventual use. This ‘energy footprint’ can be reduced, for example, by developing concentrated products that produce optimum results when used economically. This means that less packaging must be produced and disposed of, and energy is saved on transportation.
